Kwang-Gae is named after the famous Kwang-Gae-Toh-Wang, the 19th King of the Koguryo Dynasty, who regained all of the lost territories including the greater part of Manchuria. The diagram represents expansion and recovery of lost territory. The 39 Moves refer to the first two figures of 391 A.D., the year he came to throne.
Heaven Hands Ready Position
- Twin knife hand blocks to either side, simultaneously bringing the left foot of the ground (KI-HAP), and balance down into closed ready position B.
- Step the left foot forward into a left front stance and right upset pressing punch.
- Step the right foot forward into a right front stance and left upset pressing punch.
- Cross-over step to the right into a right front stance and right hooking block.
- Step back with the right foot into a left back stance and double knife hand block low.
- Cross-over step to the left into a left front stance and left hooking block.
- Step back with the left foot into a right back stance and double knife hand block low.
- Step forward with the left foot into a left rear stance and double knife hand block.
- Step forward with the right foot into a right rear stance and double knife hand block.
- Bring both arms straight out to either side, step over your right foot with your left, then step back with your right foot into a left front stance (180 degrees from where you were) and right hand upward pressing palm heel block.
- Step forward into a right front stance and left hand pressing palm heel block.
- Step your feet together, left to right, into a closed stance, circle your arms to each side and away from your body and then knife hand strike into your right palm in front of your belt knot.
- Guarding block to the left.
- Double side kick, 1st lower, 2nd higher, left leg.
- Land in a left back stance and right hand inverted knife hand strike.
- Pull your left foot back to the right foot into a closed stance and left overhead hammerfist.
- Guarding block to the right.
- Double side kick, 1st lower, 2nd higher, right leg.
- Land in a right back stance and left hand inverted knife hand strike.
- Pull your right foot back to the left foot into a closed stance and right overhead hammerfist.
- Step your left foot forward into a left front stance and dual heel press.
- Step forward into a right front stance and dual palm heel press.
- Pick up the right foot and turn 180 degrees to the right into a middle stance and right backfist. KI-HAP
