Toi-Gae is the penname of the noted scholar Yi-Hwang, 1536-1584, an authority on neo-Confucianism. The 37 Moves refer to the 37th degree latitude and the diagram represents scholar.

Closed Ready Position B

  1. Step the left foot 90 degrees to the left and left inner forearm block in a left back stance.
  2. Shift the left foot into a left front stance and right spear hand low.
  3. Step the left foot to a close stance and left low block, right backfist.
  4. Step the right foot 90 degrees to the right and right inner forearm block in a right back stance.
  5. Shift the right foot into a right front stance and left spear hand low.
  6. Step the right foot to a close stance and right low block, left backfist.
  7. Step the left foot forward into a left front stance and x-block low.
  8. Pick up the left foot and set it back down into the same left front stance and twin vertical punch.
  9. Right front snap kick.
  10. Land in a right front stance and right punch.
  11. Left punch.
  12. Balance and turn the left foot 90 degrees to the left into a close stance, resting both fists on either side of the hips, elbows out.
  13. Step the right foot directly forward into a middle stance, mountain block.
  14. Turn the left foot 180 degrees to the right, into a middle stance, mountain block.
  15. Turn the left foot 180 degrees to the left, into a middle stance, mountain block.
  16. Turn the right foot 180 degrees to the right, into a middle stance, mountain block.
  17. Turn the left foot 180 degrees to the left, into a middle stance, mountain block.
  18. Turn the left foot 180 degrees to the left, into a middle stance, mountain block.
  19. Step the right foot to the left, step the left foot out into a left back stance towards the front, and double inner forearm block low.
  20. Shift the left foot into a left front stance and head grab.
  21. Right knee strike. KI-HAP
  22. Set the right foot down into a closed stance and step the left foot 180 degrees to the back, double knife hand block in a left back stance.
  23. Left front kick.
  24. Land in a left front stance and left spear hand.
  25. Step the right foot forward to a right back stance and double knife hand block.
  26. Right front kick.
