Toi-Gae is the penname of the noted scholar Yi-Hwang, 1536-1584, an authority on neo-Confucianism. The 37 Moves refer to the 37th degree latitude and the diagram represents scholar.
Closed Ready Position B
- Step the left foot 90 degrees to the left and left inner forearm block in a left back stance.
- Shift the left foot into a left front stance and right spear hand low.
- Step the left foot to a close stance and left low block, right backfist.
- Step the right foot 90 degrees to the right and right inner forearm block in a right back stance.
- Shift the right foot into a right front stance and left spear hand low.
- Step the right foot to a close stance and right low block, left backfist.
- Step the left foot forward into a left front stance and x-block low.
- Pick up the left foot and set it back down into the same left front stance and twin vertical punch.
- Right front snap kick.
- Land in a right front stance and right punch.
- Left punch.
- Balance and turn the left foot 90 degrees to the left into a close stance, resting both fists on either side of the hips, elbows out.
- Step the right foot directly forward into a middle stance, mountain block.
- Turn the left foot 180 degrees to the right, into a middle stance, mountain block.
- Turn the left foot 180 degrees to the left, into a middle stance, mountain block.
- Turn the right foot 180 degrees to the right, into a middle stance, mountain block.
- Turn the left foot 180 degrees to the left, into a middle stance, mountain block.
- Turn the left foot 180 degrees to the left, into a middle stance, mountain block.
- Step the right foot to the left, step the left foot out into a left back stance towards the front, and double inner forearm block low.
- Shift the left foot into a left front stance and head grab.
- Right knee strike. KI-HAP
- Set the right foot down into a closed stance and step the left foot 180 degrees to the back, double knife hand block in a left back stance.
- Left front kick.
- Land in a left front stance and left spear hand.
- Step the right foot forward to a right back stance and double knife hand block.
- Right front kick.
