UNIFORM CLEANING


Basic washings:

Follow the care instructions on the uniform.


Removal of antiperspirant / deodorant stains:

Wash or sponge the stain thoroughly with detergent and warm water. Rinse. If the stain remains, use bleach. (Antiperspirants that contain substances such as aluminum chloride are acidic and may change the color of some dyes. You may be able to restore the fabric color by sponging with ammonia.) Rinse thoroughly.


Perspiration stains:

Wash or sponge stain thoroughly with detergent and warm water. If perspiration has changed the color of the fabric, try to restore by treating with ammonia for fresh stains, vinegar for old stains. Rinse with water. If an oily stain remains, apply a grease solvent.1 Dry. Repeat if necessary. If a yellow stain remains, use bleach.

1Nonflammable greased solvent: Perchlorethylene, trichlorethane, trichlorethylene are nonflammable grease solvents. They may be sold under these names or under various trade names. Observe all cautions and instructions.


Blood stains: Soak in cool water. If the stain remains, work in a detergent. Rinse. If the stain is not removed by the detergent, put a few drops of ammonia on the stain and repeat the detergent treatment. Rinse. Follow with bleach treatment if necessary.


CAUTION!  Do not use ammonia with chlorine bleach. To do so will release hazardous gases. Do not use chlorine bleach unless the manufacturer states on the label that chlorine bleach is safe.
